I picked this one up expecting another self-help book that repeats one idea for 300 pages. It’s better than that, though not perfect. The core idea is simple: tiny changes, repeated daily, compound into big results. Clear doesn’t treat that as a slogan. He builds the whole book around it, and what stuck with me most was his point that you should focus on the kind of person you want to become rather than on goals. “I’m someone who doesn’t skip workouts” works differently in your head than “I want to lose 5 kg.” The practical framework is the strongest part. He breaks habits into cue, craving, response, and reward, then gives you ways to tweak each stage. Making the good habit obvious and easy, and the bad one invisible and annoying, sounds almost too basic, but it works. I started leaving my book on my pillow instead of my phone, and I read more in a week than in the previous month. It does have flaws. Some chapters lean on the same stories of athletes and companies, and a few examples feel cherry-picked. If you’ve read a lot of productivity writing, you’ll recognize some ideas from elsewhere. The book also doesn’t say much about what to do when life is messy and you can’t keep a routine going, which is when most people fall off. The writing is clear and easy to follow, and the short chapters with summaries at the end make it a good book to dip in and out of.

I saw the advertisement on social media…
I saw the advertisement on social media & instantly clicked on it to see details. By the end of the advertisement I was sold & thought it would be a cool idea to create a book for my 16 yr old son. He loves soccer & works at a place where they make milk shakes so I added those two details about him as well as a recent photo of him & “Book by You” were able to create a great story around those two details.
